BIOS

What is BIOS? We almost hear about this word. BIOS stand for Basic Input Output System. In our device like komputer there are BIOS inside this device. In an IBM PC Computer system or compatible computer system BIOS can describe as software that can do several task.

Several task that can do by BIOS :

  1. Initial or examine hard device in the process called POST. POST stand for Power On Self Test. We know before we can run windows operating system in our computer, when for first time we turn on our computer, computer will run BIOS process to initial and examine the hard ware.
  2. Loading and running the Operating System. Like DOS and the other.
  3. Adjust some configuration in our computer like date, month, year, time etc. Also making storage device configuration, booting process, performance, computer stability etc.
  4. Help Operating system and application to handle hard ware.
